Yonkers Firefighters Give Small Business a Boost

There is no question that our local businesses have been financially devastated by the COVID19 outbreak. In order to help them through their tough times, Lt. Peter Doran and the Yonkers Fire Fighters have been purchasing gift cards to their favorite local businesses with the intention of not using those gift cards until after the current pandemic is over. 


Graphite Metallizing Corporation Donates Masks to Help Covid-19 Efforts in Yonkers

Graphite Metallizing Corporation (Graphalloy ®) , a family run manufacturing company in Yonkers, NY, has donated almost 3,000 N95 masks to local hospitals in an effort to help fight the Covid-19 outbreak and protect healthcare workers and first responders. The masks are used at the company as a safety measure for employees when machining parts. Due to the severity of the crisis, the company decided that these masks should be given to those who need it most right now.

Yonkers Public Library Hires New Director

Board of Trustees of the Yonkers Public Library has appointed Jesse Montero to lead the public library system. Montero, a Westchester native, will take the helm of the largest public library system in Westchester County, with three branches serving a diverse population of 200,000. Montero joins YPL as Library Director after a 15-year career at Brooklyn Public Library (BPL), where he most recently served as Director of its landmark Central Library.
