Cross County, located at the intersection of the Cross County Parkway and the New York State Thruway in Yonkers, leads Westchester County’s retail enterprises in both seniority and size. Featuring more than 100 stores, anchored by a recently upgraded Macy’s, Sears, Super Stop and Shop and National Amusement Multiplex Theatre, Cross County is the oldest shopping mall in the country, the prototype for all enclosed malls in the United States. Small and large retail stores like A/X Armani Exchange, Bebe, Guess and H&M are there, along with restaurants TGI Friday, Red Lobster, Applebee’s and Chipolte Grill just to name a few. Cross County is a contemporary family friendly destination with playgrounds for children, holiday events and open-air concerts during the summer.

Its neighbor, the Mall at Cross County, offers a blend of stores, shops and services all within a comfortable indoor environment.

To the north of Cross County is Central Park Avenue, which features several of the finest major national chain stores. Quality home furnishing stores for all lifestyles include Thomasville, Raymour and Flanigan and Bob’s Discount Furniture. Central Avenue is lined with many shopping centers which meet the needs of consumers throughout Yonkers and the surrounding areas. These strip malls are anchored by retail giants such as Kohls Department Store, PC Richard and Sons, Burlington Coat Factory, Bed Bath and Beyond and Barnes and Noble.

The 98-acre Austin Avenue site in East Yonkers along the New York State Thruway is Stew Leonard’s, the “Disneyland of Dairy Stores” features more than just top quality specialty grocery items as you wind along the aisles, sampling food and beverage while enjoying the animatronics. During the summer months, you can pet a live cow at the petting zoo or see live reindeer weeks before Santa visits Yonkers. Wholesale shopping club Costco and hardware giant Home Depot completes the center. Also along the New York State Thruway is the newly completed Ridge Hill Development, a mini city within a city with luxury housing, small and large upscale stores, numerous fine and casual dining eateries and the Cinema de Lux Movie Theatre.

The McLean Avenue corridor is a vibrant shopping and dining experience, known for its wonderful specialty stores and Irish pubs! Store owners joined forces and created the McLean Avenue Merchants Association (MAMA) which has brought new life and new recognition to the area. MAMA now hosts a Fall Street Fair in September with activities, live music, food and drink for the entire family, and a St. Patrick Day Parade on the famed “Emerald Mile” each March.
