Health Services

The Westchester County Department of Health, (914) 593-5100, provides personal health and environmental health services to residents of Yonkers through its District Office at 30 South Broadway, and its central office at 19 Bradhurst Avenue. Specific health services available at the Yonkers District Office include: immunization, physical examinations and treatment of minor illnesses for infants and children; primary care initiative services which link women with prenatal care and entitlements, and newborns with pediatric services; childhood-lead poisoning prevention; AIDS case management services; family planning education; teen and adult family planning services and the Teen Linkage Program; breast health services; chronic disease prevention through the Yonkers Healthy Heart Program (formerly located at St. John's Hospital).

To diagnose and treat patients with sexually transmitted diseases, there are weekly clinics at the Yonkers District Office; HIV counseling and testing are also available on a confidential or anonymous basis. Dental services, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, are available for children under fifteen years of age. Tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up are also available. Nutrition counseling and food supplements are available for eligible women, infants, and children through the WIC Program at the Yonkers District Office.

Through its Certified Home Health Agency, the Westchester County Department of Health provides home health nursing and geriatric nursing services, physical therapy, PRI screening and occupational therapy to persons who are ill at home and who suffer from acute or chronic illness. Yonkers District Office nurses also visit the homes of pregnant mothers prior to and following delivery to provide guidance and counseling on all health problems for the entire family.

Utility Service - Electric and Gas

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. provides electricity and natural gas for Yonkers homes and industry. The utility and its predecessor companies have served the City of Yonkers for over 100 years. The Con Edison customer service office at One Main Street in Yonkers provides facilities for receiving customer bill payments, turn-on or turn-off service requests and customer billing inquiries.
